Anguilla welcomes yachts and cruisers to explore its calm turquoise waters, protected bays, and thriving marine life. To preserve these unique habitats, the island operates an organized anchorage and mooring system that balances access with conservation.

Mooring and anchorage zones

Anguilla’s Marine Park System protects eight designated areas of ecological and heritage value.  Anchoring is restricted inside Marine Parks and permitted only in approved sandy zones to protect coral and seagrass beds.  See list of protects designated areas:

  • Little Bay
  • Sandy Island
  • Prickly Pear Cays
  • Shoal Bay–Island Harbour
  • Dog Island
  • Rendezvous Bay
  • Junks Hole
  • Sombrero Island (land-sea reserve)

Public mooring fields are available for day use (6:00 am – 7:00 pm)

  • Little Bay
  • Sandy Island
  • Prickly Pear Cays
  • Shoal Bay East

Mooring and cruising permits

All visiting yachts must clear Customs and Immigration before applying for a Marine Park Mooring Permit or Cruising Permit.

Permits can be obtained through the Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources or through us at 4 G’s Yachting & Concierge Agency.

Mooring tips and Environmental guidelines

  • Approach slowly and with caution
  • Pass your own dock line through the pickup eye and secure both ends to your cleats
  • Do not tie the buoy line directly to your cleat
  • Check for wear and report any damage immediately
  • Use only during permitted hours (6:00 am – 7:00 pm)

Pollution control and environmental protection are strictly enforced:

  • No discharge of bilge, sewage, or litter
  • No fishing or removal of coral, shells, or artifacts within parks
  • No use of jet skis or powered marine toys
  • No open fires on beaches

Violating marine park regulations can result in fines up to EC $5,000 and/or six months’ imprisonment.
